Joining Loud Jew Collective

Radical Directory Collective interviewed Loud Jew Collective as part of a project to support people who are new to grassroots organising in Naarm and looking for ways to get involved. Q: What kind of world is Loud Jew Collective working to build? A: A world free from exploitation and domination. We aim to be a home and community for inspiring and radicalising Jewish cultures, knowledges and politics that build on our multiple histories. “Our conception of Jewishness joins our work to locally based and international movements fighting exploitation and domination.” We strive to work in solidarity with First Nations peoples to achieve decolonisation of the lands and systems we inhabit, on Kulin lands and waters and beyond. We work to forge a strong Jewish consciousness that fights antisemitism. Q: What kind of work does Loud Jew Collective do? A: We run events and create resources for community building, political and cultural education and actively work to create relationships of solidarity in so-called ‘Australia’ and internationally. This includes rituals, film screenings, workshops, panels, parties, protests, and more. Q: What skills do I need to be an active and useful part of Loud Jew Collective? Can you train me in these skills? Useful skills include: - working in a collective - producing events - leading rituals - promotion - forming connections with other groups - political analysis - design - party hosting We aim to hold regular training sessions to help build capacity in these and other areas. We also use some basic online tools and can help you to get familiar with these. Q: Who would be a good fit to be actively involved in Loud Jew Collective? Are you open to new people all the time, or do you make periodic call-outs? A: This is a collective for Jews of all kinds who share our vision of an expansive and transformative Jewishness, where affiliated and non-affiliated Jews have a home and of a Jewishness that is not tied to zionism. Our monthly meetings are always open to new organising collective members. We seek activists who can hold space for complexity, nuance, contradictions and questioning. We are also keen to collaborate with other activist groups! Q: Do you accept donations? How can I donate to Loud Jew Collective to support your work? A: Sure - get in touch above!
